Military Counterintelligence Service is in charge of identifying, preventing and detecting crimes committed by soldiers fulfilling the active military service, officers of the Military Counterintelligence Service and the Military Intelligence Service as well as the staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and other organisational units of the Ministry of National Defence:

• against peace, mankind, as well as war crimes;
• espionage against RP and other allied countries;
• attack or sabotage against the Armed Forces of RP;
• specified in Articles 228-230 of the Polish Criminal Code (corruption), if they may pose a threat against the security or combat capacity of the Armed Forces of RP or other organisational units of the Ministry of National Defence;
• against the protection of information specified in Chapter XXXIII of the Polish Criminal Code, if they may pose a threat against the security or combat capacity of the Armed Forces of RP or other organisational units of the Ministry of National Defence, as well as such acts against other allied countries;
• illegal foreign trade in goods, technologies and services of strategic importance for the state security and for the maintenance of the international peace and security;
• related with terrorism;
• other crimes against the security of defence potential of the state, the Armed Forces of RP and organisational units of the Ministry of National Defence, as well as other allied countries.

Military Counterintelligence Service performs, within its capacity, the tasks specified in the Act on the Protection of Classified Information:

• personal security
• telecommunications and IT security
• industrial security

Military Counterintelligence Service protects the security of military units, other organisational units of the Ministry of National Defence and soldiers performing official tasks abroad. SKW soldiers and officers perform this task through:

• participation in the missions of Polish Military Contingents, inter alia, in Afghanistan,
• presence in international structures of NATO and the EU.

Military Counterintelligence Service:

• acquires
• collects
• analyses
• processes
• transfers to competent authorities (e.g. the President of RP, the President of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of National Defence)

information meaningful for the national defence, security or combat capacity of the Armed Forces of RP or the Ministry of National Defence, within the framework of its statutory competences and takes steps to eliminate the threats identified.

Military Counterintelligence Service is in charge of:

• radio electronic counterintelligence,
• ventures in cryptographic protection and cryptanalysis.

Military Counterintelligence Service provides security to scientific research and development works commissioned by the Armed Forces of RP and other organisational units of the Ministry of National Defence and ensures the security of production and trade in goods, technologies and services for military use ordered by the Armed Forces of RP and other organisational units of the Ministry of National Defence, within the framework of its statutory tasks related to detecting crimes. In performing its activities, Military Counterintelligence Service collaborates with:

• General Staff of the Polish Army and other organisational units of the Ministry of National Defence as well as the commanders of the types of the Armed Forces of RP, military districts, military garrisons and military units;
• adequate authorities, services and institutions subordinate to the minister competent for the internal services;
• adequate authorities and organisational units subordinate to the minister competent for public finance;
• adequate authorities, services and institutions subordinate to the minister competent for foreign affairs;
• adequate authorities, services and institutions competent for the performance of operational and reconnaissance activities.
